AEOLUS produces a new recording with Léon Berben at the famous gothic organ in the Jakobikirche, Lübeck (Germany)

14/06/2020

In the first week of June this year, AEOLUS recording producer Christoph Martin Frommen travelled to Lübeck to record the famous gothic organ (1467/1515, Friederich Stellwagen 1637) in the Jakobikirche.

AEOLUS artist Léon Berben recorded here the second and last volume of Matthias Weckmann's organ music. What is special about these recordings is that we have selected historical instruments for this complete recording that already existed during the composer's lifetime (1617 - 1674).
For this recording AEOLUS sound engineer Christoph Martin Frommen used nine microphones of type DPA 4006 (omni). The recording was done in stereo and multichannel surround (5.1).
The recording is scheduled to be released as double SACD in autumn this year.

There is a short video trailer on Youtube.
