Aeolus produces Super Audio CD on the Zacharias Hildebrandt-organ of the Wenzelskirche in Naumburg

27/11/2020

Fantastic news for lovers of opulent baroque organ music: In October Aeolus has produced a recording of J.S.Bach's "Art of the Fugue" on the famous Hildebrandt organ in Naumburg played by Samuel Kummer, the organist of the Dresden Frauenkirche.

You can look forward to this extraordinary new recording, which we will release in spring. We don't think we are promising too much in announcing an album that will surpass previous recordings of the instrument in terms of sound quality. Capturing the sound of this instrument is a highly complex task, and for Aeolus producer Christoph Martin Frommen it was a very exciting challenge to master. The sheer height of the instruments and the gallery requires suitable equipment...
Samuel Kummer performed "The Art of the Fugue" in 2013 on this instrument in concert and has since been captivated by the dream of eternalizing this work on CD there. His arrangements of the individual fugues and canons, which are specially adapted to the requirements of this instrument, have been thought out in every detail and will make listening a truly extraordinary experience! After Gerd Zacher on the one-manual Balthasar König organ in Niederehe and Bob van Asperen on the harpsichord, this will be our third recording of this work.

There is a pre-release videoclip available on youtube!
