Aeolus produces new double SACD project "Hymnes - tribute to Nicolas de Grigny"

Aeolus produces new double SACD project "Hymnes - tribute to Nicolas de Grigny"

01/10/2015

Aeolus' producer Christoph Martin Frommen has just finished new fascinating recordings at the St. Remi Basilica in Reims (Champagne-Ardenne, France) with five famous organists: Vincent Dubois, Olivier Latry, Jean-Baptiste Robin, Benoît Mernier and Pierre Farago.

Each of them recorded one of the de Grigny hymns, followed by world premier recordings of five new organ compositions as a "tribute to Nicolas de Grigny". The composers are Thierry Escaich (Evocation IV), Vincent Paulet (Hymne), Jean-Baptiste Robin (Cinq Versts sur le "Veni Creator"), Benoît Mernier (Pange lingua), and Pierre Farago (Adusque Terrae Limitem).
The recordings were made in co-production avec the "Association de Reims". The instrument used is the Bertrand Cattiaux organ built in 2000 (III/45). The double album will be released in early 2016.
