Zuzana Ferjenčíková is a new artist on the AEOLUS record label

01/11/2022

In November, Zuzana Ferjenčíková will be recording a first album for AEOLUS at the Van den Heuvel organ of Saint-Eustache in Paris.

The Slovakian organist, pianist and composer was a student of Jean Guillou (1930 - 2019) for many years and maintained a frequent exchange with the legendary French organ virtuoso and composer.
In 2004, she was the first woman to win the first prize at the International Organ Improvisation Competition in Haarlem (Netherlands).
She regularly holds master classes and is invited to international organ competitions as a jury member. She founded the Vienna Franz Liszt Society and acts as its president.
In autumn 2021 she was appointed to the Codarts University for Music in Rotterdam, where she teaches Organ Concert Performance.
As a performer, she is particularly interested in the music of the Romantic period (Franz Liszt), but also in 20th century compositions (Jean Guillou, Marcel Dupré). As a composer, she creates concert pieces for organ and piano as well as for a wide variety of ensembles. With enthusiasm she also transcribes piano and orchestral works for organ.
As a small sample, Zuzana Ferjenčíková here plays her own transcription of the first movement of Ludwig van Beethoven's Piano Sonata No. 8 in C minor, Op. 13 (Grande Sonate Pathétique). This video was filmed by AEOLUS' producer Christoph M. Frommen on 25 September 2022 during a live concert in the Church of St. Peter and Paul in Straelen (D). We'd like to express our gratitude to Otto Maria Krämer, titular organist, for his kind permission.
