Harpe

Ensembles: Spirit & Pleasure

Johanna Seitz is “addicted” to historical harps from the gothic harp to the pedal harp, with a focus on playing the multi-row baroque harps.

As a soloist and continuo player, she performs worldwide at both the most important and smaller festivals, documented by numerous radio and CD recordings.
She plays with Collegium 1704, the Freiburg Baroque Orchestra, the Freiburg Baroque Consort, Dorothee Oberlinger, Musica Fiata, Concerto Köln, the Capricornus Consort Basel and with her own ensembles nuovo aspetto and 33 zwo (with Salterio). She plays in a wide spectrum of chamber music formations as well as in opera houses throughout Europe. Her first recordings of rediscovered harp concertos by Georg Christoph Wagenseil and Johann Wilhelm Hertel have been released on the Accent and AEOLUS labels respectively.
She teaches at academies, e.g. at the Mozarteum Salzburg, at the Academy of Music in Katowice or at the Wittenberg Renaissance Music Festival, as well as giving further training for music teachers. In addition, she is researching repertoire for her instrument and publishes a harp music series at Edition Wallhall. In June, the international harp festival HarpCologne, which she initiated, was launched. She also organises a small concert series in Wuppertal for the Kultur am Wendepunkt e.V..
