Leipzig-born flutist Anne Freitag studied recorder, historical flutes and improvisation amongst others in Basel.
As first flutist she plays with groups like Sinfonic 4.0, Capriccio, Kammerorchester Basel, B’Rock, Millenium Orchestra, as well as Hathor Consort, Musica cubicularis, Il bell’humore and Alter Klang. She won several international competitions; the Schmelzer competition in Melk, the International Graun-Competition Bad Liebenwerda and Musica antiqua Brugge. As a soloist she appeared with Arte dei Suonatori, the European Union Baroque Orchestra, Les Agrémens, and others, and won the EUBO Development Trust Award as a most promising musician. She plays copies of flutes from the 15th-19th century and originals from the 18th-20th century. Besides she teaches historical flutes, Renaissance consort and chamber music at the University of Music and Theatre Leipzig.
