As a harpsichord player, Sabine Bauer makes part of some of the most important baroque ensembles in Germany.
Sabine Bauer studied at the conservatoires in Cologne, Berlin and Frankfurt under Michael Schneider (recorder), and Bradford Tracey and Harald Hoeren (harpsichord). Further teachers were Andreas Staier and Gustav Leonhardt.
She has been a member of the ensembles Camerata Köln and La Stagione Frankfurt from their very beginnings and has participated in concerts throughout Europe as well as in North and South America – both ensembles have produced numerous CDs with Sabine. As a soloist she has made recordings of harpsichord concertos by G.M. Monn, C.F. Abel and Georg Benda, as well as the Goldberg Variations by Johann Sebastian Bach. She has also played and recorded with Musica Antiqua Köln. Accompanying the bass-baritone Gotthold Schwarz both on the harpsichord and pianoforte she has cultivated the lied repertoire of the classical and the early romantic periods.
Sabine Bauer is among the teaching staff for harpsichord, early chamber music and the art of basso continuo at the Frankfurt conservatoire and at the Darmstadt academy. She always has an excellent choice of instruments, being the partner of the harpsichord builder Matthias Griewisch.
