Melchior Schildt

1592-1667

Melchior Schildt was one of Jan Pieterszoon Sweelinck's best students.

He was active as an organist at Hannover. His music is representative for the northern german organ tradition. His compositions can be compared with works by Scheidemann or Weckmann.
