Carsten Lohff, born in 1961 in Hamburg, initially studied harpsichord and music theory. Numerous CDs, with the ensembles Cantus Cölln and Le concert brisé, among others, document his work as continuo player and soloist.
Among his teachers were Johann Sonnleitner, Bob van Asperen, Gustav Leonhardt, and Christoph Hohlfeld. In 1998 he sojourned in Italy to study Baroque harp with Maria Galassi. In addition to extensive concert activities, Carsten Lohff currently teaches historical keyboard instruments at the Bremen College of the Arts, and harpsichord and continuo playing at the Hamburg College of Music and Theater.
