It was built in 1783 on a gallery in front of the church’s altar. Today, it is located opposite its original position, in the western part of the church, on an organ gallery above the entrance. Consistently praised by contemporaries, it underwent various alterations and restorations over the course of its history, while the original pipe material has largely been preserved. Crucial for its present sound was the comprehensive restoration carried out by the firm Ahrend (Leer-Loga) in 2019-2020, which brought the pipework as close as possible to its original state. The organ has 12 stops with attached pedal. Wenthin also engaged with equal temperament; in Backemoor, a slightly unequal temperament is implemented (Bellingwolde 1797).
