The phenomenal Stephen Tharp plays Louis Vierne's late Symphonies Nos. 5 & 6 on the legendary Cavaillé-Coll organ of Saint-Sulpice in Paris! An extremely promising combination ...

Over the past years, AEOLUS has produced the first four organ symphonies by Louis Vierne with the titular organist of Saint-Sulpice, Maître Daniel Roth. These recordings were highly praised and received many important awards.

For the two late symphonies Op. 47 and Op. In 59, Daniel Roth very thankfully left the monumental 5-manual organ console of "his" unique Cavaillé-Coll to his younger American colleague Stephen Tharp, who is very familiar with this organ: it's breathtaking to see how easily and virtuosic Tharp makes use this powerful instrument.

As he emphasizes in the interview (see short video clip), this combination - Vierne in Saint-Sulpice - is ideal, as the organ is the largest unaltered Cavaillé-Coll instrument. Vierne also was an assistant to Widor for some years, and cherished the organ immensely. The instrument was built only 6 years earlier than the organ of Notre-Dame in Paris.

This new double CD / SACD will be the last album produced by AEOLUS on the organ of Saint-Sulpice. It comes with a richly illustrated booklet in an elegant DPac. In addition, the edition is limited. Do not hesitate to order your personal copy soon!
