Conclusion of the Bob van Asperen Froberger Edition in the anniversary year 2016: The tentatively final eighth installment presents the toccatas performed on harpsichord, and, in addition, two Elevation toccatas and an organ toccata are to be heard on wonderful original Italian organs. Special highlights are the sacred motets in world premiere recordings with vocal soloists Mieke van der Sluis, John Elwes, and Klaus Mertens.

Johann Jacob Froberger (1616-1667) was a fantastic musician – even in 2016, exactly 400 years after his birth, his music is able to touch people’s hearts. Bach and also Mozart studied his works; his influence is clearly to be perceived in Bach’s harpsichord suites. In recent years, the “Bob van Asperen Froberger Edition” on the AEOLUS label has played a significant role in making Froberger’s works heard all over the world, under the best artistic and technical conditions.

With the world premiere recordings of the two Froberger motets, the Froberger Edition on AEOLUS is the first complete recording of the works of the master who was born in Stuttgart and at home throughout Europe.

The comprehensive booklet with texts by Bob van Asperen will delight many Froberger fans, especially since it also contains an overview of all of Froberger’s works and of the Edition.
